Master Bathroom: Chapter Two

For Master Bathroom: Chapter One click here.

Over the four day weekend the shower in our master bathroom really started to take shape.  It's always encouraging when you start seeing results on a project you are working on!!

The tile had already been installed the previous week so Hubs set to work grouting in between the white subway tiles.  The grouting process proved to be easier than expected and only took him around an hour to do from start to finish.

Look at those clean white tiles with fresh grout in between.  I just love em'!!

After hubster sealed the grout we were ready for a shower door.  Hubs did his research and found out that both of our two local big box home improvement stores had the door we wanted.  But one store sold it for $30 less than the other one. Plus that same store was willing to offer up a military discount.  Sold!!

Before I reveal the new shower let's take a peek at the old shower again.  Here it is in all of it's ugliness glory!

Now behold. The new shower!!

It was hard for me to get a good picture with the doors on. With all that bright white tile and the glass doors I was having trouble getting decent pictures.  Excuse the semi-dark picture but you get the point right?

I would love a glass door that doesn't have a frame on top but with the toilette practically in the shower there was no way to have a door that swung open.  Oh well.  You make do with what you've got.

We have already purchased a new shower head that needs to be installed but other than that the shower is now finished. WOOHOO!!  Hubs took the liberty of testing out the new shower the other night when I was out having a girls night out.  Apparently since he did all the work he thought he should be the first to use the new shower.  What?  My Sonic runs to supply him with cold beverages and that trip to Lowe's for extra grout didn't count as work?  ha!!  :)

I finally got to use the new shower this morning and it was so nice not taking a shower in a dark yucky cave!  The glass doors really made the shower seem so much bigger than before.

With the shower now finished Hubs turned his attention to the drywall in the bathroom.  There were a few areas that needed to be patched up before the walls could be painted.  Good thing Hubs is practically a drywall expert.  Have I mentioned lately that I am glad he is so handy?  No telling what the labor would have cost us on all of this had we had to hire somebody else to complete it.

Next up............

Install new shower head
Paint the walls
Move the light fixture
Install new medicine cabinet
Bulk up the new medicine cabinet with moulding to achieve a custom look
Hang glass shelves on the wall
Look for baskets for glass shelves
Make new window treatments

just beautiful! what a transformation!

it's nice to hear that the grouting was easy. we installed our subway tile backsplash in the kitchen over two years ago and have yet to grout it (I am kind of embarrassed to admit that). i think you may have inspired me to just do it! thanks :)
